Operational performance
The Quon Range is characterised by design that contributes to low lifecycle costs and reduced mechanical strain. This is achieved with:
- A low wind-resistance cabin;
- New generation unit injector in the GE13 and MD92 engines;
- Low fuel consumption through increased combustion efficiency;
- A number of chassis variations to meet different load and road surface challenges.
Driver comfort
Besides its modern styling, Quon’s true success starts in the cabin with its emphasis on safety, comfort and enhanced visibility. These cabs are quiet, offers loads of additional space and storage room, and easy to reach controls.
- 180º visibility from a rounded windscreen and side windows;
- Innovative use of space and ample storage;
- Double bunk facilities for long distance haulage (High Roof versions);
- Air-conditioning, electric windows and sound system as standard;
- Cup holders with hot and cold function (High Roof versions);
- Standing room inside the cabin (High Roof versions).
Cabin safety features
The innovative cabin of the Quon is specifically designed to provide occupants with a safe and comfortable ride, which also limit driver fatigue:
- High visibility side mirrors;
- Tough overall cabin structure, including door beam protectors;
- Absorbent steering column - special protection for drivers’ legs;
- Adjustable steering and seating positions;
- Low noise levels;
- Cab, air-suspension (option).
Engine series
The Quon range is powered by the proven reliance and economy of UD Trucks’ quality engine series:
- GE13 (13-litre), unit injector with three horsepower ratings;
- MD92 (9-litre), offers a new generation ultra-high pressure common-rail system.
Transmission variations
The QUON range has a number of transmission options for the various models. The Easy Safe Controlled Transmission (ESCOT) -AT IV and -II transmissions have been established as market leaders worldwide.
ESCOT has been specifically designed for enhanced driver comfort and safety, lower maintenance as well as greater fuel efficiency.
ESCOT provides:
- Clutchless operation;
- Computer-controlled gear shift that provides delicate clutch operation in adverse conditions;
- Manual intervention;
- Easy hill start;
- Air shift navigation;
- Auto downshift with auxiliary braking;
- Automatic option is available on UD 330 WF for compactor application.
On certain models and applications, the fuel efficient ZF 16S221 boasts innovative technology and durability, while the seven-speed MTS75 gearbox is specifically utilised for tipper, mixer and freight carrier applications.
